Snowy Owl Hand Painted Glass Ornament
Bobby & Louis
painterslife
This is the year the Snowy Owls fly south seeking food because their favourite food, lemmings, are in low supply. This happens every 4 years or so and snowies can be observed in large flocks. A breathtaking sight. I love them and wanted to celebrate their year with this hand painted glass ornament.

This ornament is for sale in my Etsy shop..Painterslife.

Boston Terrier Glass Christmas Ball
Bobby & Louis
painterslife
This is another of the hand oil painted Christmas balls I did for my new etsy store. The ball is dark red but I couldn't get a good photo of it to save my life! It looks black. So much prettier in real life.

All my balls are sold and I could barely keep up with the demand. Now my etsy store is empty but I'm so busy with previous commissions that I just don't have time to paint more items for my store. It's so much fun!! I love etsyChristmas, oil painting, glass ball, red,Boston Terrier

Joined Etsy!! Long Coat Chihuahua Christmas Ball

painterslife
I just joined etsy as a seller and I thought I would kick off my shop with a few hand painted glass Christmas balls with dogs painted on them in oils. I'm very excited because I sold one ball already. I love creating and adding new items to my store. It's so much fun! My store name is PaintersLife. Just go to the drop down menu to sellers and type in my name.

This is one of my ornaments, a long-coat chihuahua. My pictures don't do her justice. It's difficult to paint tiny features on a 2 5/8" round surface not to mention mistakes cannot be removed!

"Play With Me!" 16"x20" Acrylic on Canvas
Bobby & Louis
painterslife
I wanted to do a painting that incorporated the crazy playfulness of the Japanese Chin while still including their heritage as royal Japanese dogs. The rascal pulling on the Geisha's cord is my little chin, Louis. My Geisha's attempting to apply her very complex make-up but Louis has had enough. Time to play!

This painting was donated to the 2010 Japanese Chin Specialty as was last year's painting featured as my user pic, to be raffled off to raise funds. Hope it sells a few tickets.

Update: August 30, 2010. This painting fetched $175 in a silent auction which is trickier than raffle tickets! Happy about that.

"Chase" 10"x10" oil on stretched linen

This is a painting I did for A Better Life Dog Rescue from the tiniest photo off their website. Chase was so full of energy and hope that I fell quite in love with him while straining my eyes to paint him from his minuscule image. I've donated this painting to the rescue's gala April 10/10 and hope someone bids on it! Go Chase!

Update: "Chase" fetched full value at the charity auction!

Dee Dee's Day Before Christmas: Page 3

painterslife
Here is the next instalment in the Christmas book I am painting for my daughter about her Boston Terrier. I'm getting a little bit more comfortable painting on a small format with watercolours again. I got brave and tried dry-brushing the floor planks and like the effect. The dog running out the door isn't really grey, that is just the flash reflecting. My camera's flash is harsh. I wanted a stronger flash and boy, did I get one! Here is the text that will accompany this page:

"Dee Dee!", Holly screamed. But it was too late. Dee Dee was as fast as lightening as she dashed out the door, down the stairs, and ...

Basket of Bostons

These are 3 Christmas balls I painted of my daughter's Boston Terriers. The one on the back right is Arista who has passed on and the male in the front is Sam. The young one in the upper left is Dee Dee, her one year old girl.

These were my second attempt at painting frosted Christmas balls. They are difficult to draw and paint on because they are quite small and convex which distorts the image, making it hard to render an accurate likeness. The frostiness sucks the paint and shows every stroke in an unflattering way. Blending is impossible and the camera is unforgiving letting the red ball show through. The ears appear flat but are quite large when the ball is viewed from a higher vantage point. However, I couldn't resist the challenge and I felt I got better with each attempt.

Dee Dee's Day Before Christmas: Page Two

This is page two of the Christmas Book I'm making for may daughter about her Boston Terrier. This is the text that accompanies the picture:

"Crunch, crunch, crunch". The mailman's boots crunched in the hard frozen snow. Dee Dee flew to the window. Now was her chance.

"Just going to check the mail! You two wait here." called Holly. But DeeDee didn't wait there. She bolted for the suite door!

Dee Dee's Day Before Christmas. Page One.

This is page one of the Christmas book I'm making for my daughter. Here is the text that will accompany it.

Dee Dee had a plan... a day before Christmas plan. She would slip out the "Big Front Door" when the mailman came because today was the day she was going to get her Mummy's Christmas present! And she would be going alone without her big brother, Sammy, or her Mum, Holly.
